Club Commissioners

Coach Boyd helped start BAVA in 1999 and is currently the Club Commissioner.  This is her 10th year coaching for BAVA.  She started her playing career at Chesapeake Volleyball Club in 1995.  She played 4 years at Severna Park High School, 3 on Varsity, and earned many honors.  Coach Boyd was named 1st team All-Anne Arundel County by The Capital and The Sun.  She was also named 1st team All-Metro by the Baltimore Sun and Washington Post.  Coach Boyd was named the Anne Arundel County Player of the Year in 1998, leading her team to the 4A State Finals.  She also played USAV at Columbia Volleyball Club 1995-99.  She continued her career at Gettysburg College, starting for 4 years and helping her team make 3 NCAA appearances.  She was named 1st team All-Centennial Conference in 2001 and 2002 and Centennial Conference Player of the Year in 2002.  She was the assistant varsity coach at Severna Park High School 2003-2006 and is currently the JV Head Coach at Severna Park High School.  Coach Boyd has coached BAVA 12's, 13’s, 15's, 16's, and 17's, is IMPACT certified, CAP I certified, and a member of AVCA.

Coach Radford is entering her 10th year of coaching for BAVA.  She started her playing career at Northern High School, spending three years on Varsity.  During her four years, they won 3 Southern MD Athletic Conference Titles, 3 Maryland State Titles, named 1st team All Calvert County and 1st team All-SMAC two times, names All-Calvert County MVP, and 1st team All-Metro.  Coach Radford also played four years of varsity softball, winning 2 SMAC Titles and 2 MD State Titles.  She was named 1st team All-American Scholar Athlete, 2nd team All-American, 3 years on 1st team All-SMAC, 1 year 2nd team all-SMAC, 3 years 1st team All-Calvert County, All-Calvert County MVP, 2nd team All-Metro, and 1st team All-Metro.  She was inducted into the Northern High School Hall of Fame in 2003.  She also played 7 years of USAV for Southern Maryland Juniors.  Coach Radford continued her softball career at the University of Maryland, being named 2 time Mid-Atlantic regional All-American and 1 year All-ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference).  She is currently the varsity head coach at Northern High School in Calvert County.  Coach Radford has coached BAVA 15's, 16's and 17's, is IMPACT certified, and a member of the AVCA.

 

 

17 Riptide

Coach Verostic is entering his 4th season coaching for BAVA. He grew up playing primarily doubles volleyball. He was won numerous beach and grass doubles tournaments all over the east coast, including multiple Toyota Pro Opens, EVP Pro Opens, and  AVP qualifiers. He still trains and competes on the beach at the professional level. He has 12 years of men’s indoor volleyball experience at the USAV level for TS-Performance. Coach Verostic has coached the USAV High Performance indoor and beach teams as well as many college and club camps/clinics. He has coached St. Mary’s HS, was the head coach at Severna Park HS from 2010-2012 leading them to an Anne Arundel County championship in 2010, and currently coaches at Huntingtown HS. Coach Verostic has coached BAVA 15's and 18's, is IMPACT certified, and a member of the AVCA.

Coach Klau is entering her 5th year coaching for BAVA.  She started her playing career at Severna Park High School earning many honors: 2000 1st team All-County, 2001 1st team All-Metro, All-Anne Arundel County, Anne Arundel County Player of the Year, and 1st team All-Metro Washington Post.  Her team was the 2000 4A State Final runner-ups.  Coach Klau played USAV for Peak Performance Club in 1999 and BAVA 2000-2002.  She continued her playing career with a full athletic scholarship to Towson Universtiy, 2002-2006.  She continues to play today on various teams.  Coach Klau was a Towson Volleyball Camp Counselor in 2002, a Navy Volleyball Camp Counselor and East Stroudsburg University Camp Counselor in 2003, was the JV Coach for the Bryn Mawr School, and helped with BAVA clinics in 2006 and 2007.  She also played for the BAVA Heat and in various leagues around the area.  Coach Klau has coached BAVA 15's and is IMPACT certified.

Coach Leventry is entering his 10th year of coaching for BAVA.  He started his playing career with the Maryland Volleyball Program, playing for 6 years, and being named an AAU All-American.  He continued his playing career at Towson University.  Coach Leventry was the Head Coach at Severna Park High School from 2006-2009, leading the team to the Anne Arundel County Championship in 2007 and 2009.  He has also coached the University of Maryland women's club team.  He spend the 2010-2011 seasons as the assistant coach at Goucher College in Towson, MD.  Coach Leventry spent the 2012 season as the Associate Head Coach at Washington College leading the team to one of the most successful seasons in program history. Coach Leventry has coached BAVA 15's, 16's, 17's, and 18's, is IMPACT, CAP I, and CAP II certified, and is a member of the AVCA.

Coach Hernandez is entering her 3rd season coaching with BAVA.  She played at Arundel High School from 1999-2003, earning 2nd Team All Anne Arundel County honors in 2001, 1st Team All Anne Arundel County and Player of the Year by Capital and Baltimore Sun in 2002 and Second Team All Met from the Washington Post in 2002.  She played one year of club with BAVA in 2003 and one year at Columbia Volleyball Club in 2002.  She continued her volleyball career at Frostburg State University 2003-2007.  She earned 2nd team All Conference in 2005, 1st team All Conference in 2006, and is 3rd all time in assists at FSU.  Amanda is currently the assistant varsity coach at Arundel High School, where she has helped lead her team to Anne Arundel County Championships (2011, 2012), District V Championships (2011), Regional Championships (2010, 2011, 2012), and state finals (2011, 2012).  Coach Hernandez has coached BAVA 18's, 15's, and is IMPACT certified.

Coach Carter is one of the founders of BAVA and is entering her 14th year coaching for the club.  She started her playing career at Parkdale High School and continued playing at Salisbury University.  Coach Carter coached 6 years with Capital Volleyball Club.  She has been the Varsity Head Coach at South River High School for 17 years.  Coach Carter has coached BAVA 14's, 15's, and 16's and is IMPACT certified.

Coach Hardin enters her 5th year coaching for BAVA.  She is originally from Moorpark, CA and started playing volleyball when she was a freshman in high school. She played at Moorpark High School and club at Thunder Volleyball Club in the San Fernando Valley. She came to Maryland in 2002 to play for the Towson University varsity volleyball team. Her position was mainly middle blocker, but played some right side hitter throughout her career, and she was a captain her senior year. Coach Hardin graduated from Towson in 2006 with her Bachelor's in psychology and went on to obtain my Master's at Towson in counseling psychology. She has coached several summer camps including Navy, Towson, and Ohio State and coached for one year at Time Out VBC prior to coming to BAVA. She now works full-time at an outpatient substance abuse counseling center. Coach Hardin has coached BAVA 12's, 16's, and 17's and is IMPACT certified.

 

15 Cyclones

Coach Erwin is joining us for her 1st season coaching for BAVA. She started her playing career at Canal Winchester Middle School and continued playing throughout High School, spending three years on Varsity.  During her four years, they won 4 OH Divisional Titles and 3 OH State Titles.  Coach Erwin also played four years of varsity softball, winning 1 OH Divisional Title. Throughout high school she volunteered her time to help at multiple youth volleyball clinics. Coach Erwin continued her volleyball career at San Diego State University while coaching youth volleyball indoor camps. She was head coach at Brandon Middle School, VA from 2010-2011 taking their team to have its first win ever in their school history and to be undefeated for the year. She also was head coach for the VA Rec Volleyball League in 2011 and the BAVA Rec league in 2012. Coach Erwin is the head coach of BAVA 15's Cyclones Team and is IMPACT certified.

Coach Ingle is entering her 5th season coaching BAVA.  She played volleyball for Severna Park High School from 1999-2003 and was named All-County in the 2002 season.  Coach Ingle played USAV for BAVA from 1999-2003.  She attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington majoring in Communication Studies and Spanish.  In college she played beach volleyball for a local rec league.  Coach Ingle has coached BAVA 14's, 15's, and 16's and is IMPACT certified.

Coach McCabe helped start BAVA 13 years ago and is entering his 5th year coaching for BAVA.  He attended Severna Park High School, playing soccer and running track.  He continued his volleyball career playing on the University of Maryland Men's Team between 1990-1995.  He also played Division 3 Professional Soccer in 1996 and 1997.  Coach McCabe was the Severna Park High School JV coach 1996-1999 and the Varsity coach in 2000.  He coached one year of 18's at Columbia VBC, then the BAVA 17's Riptide in 2000 and 2001.  Coach McCabe also coaches U7-U13 travel soccer.  He was a High School Church Youth Advisor between 1996-2003, was a Special Olympics Skiing Coach 2004-07, and a Liberty Adaptive Skiing Volunteer 2004-07.  Coach McCabe has coached the BAVA Fall Youth League, BAVA 14’s, 16's, and 17's, and is IMPACT certified.

Coach Maria is entering her 2nd season coaching with BAVA. She played for Southern High School from 2003-2007. She played for BAVA 2005-2006 and Team Force 2006-2007. Maria continued to play volleyball at Washington College 2007-2011 while studying Environmental Studies. She has coached the BAVA Fall Youth League, BAVA 14's, and is IMPACT certified.

Coach Jeffries is entering his 3rd season coaching club volleyball and his first coaching for BAVA. He has 5 years of coaching in the Anne Arundel Rec league beginning in 2008 with the Davidsonville Athletic Association. In 2010 he moved over to the Crofton Athletic Association coaching the 14 and unders and conducting numerous clinics for all ages. Chuck graduated from the University of Maryland in 1979 with a biology degree, is married with 3 children, and is IMPACT certified.

Coach Creighton is entering her first season coaching with BAVA. She attended and played volleyball for South River High School 2003-2006.  She played BAVA for two seasons: 2004 and 2005. Emily went on to play volleyball at McDaniel College where she joined them in playing in two Centennial Conference Championships.  Coach Creighton is IMPACT certified.

Coach Yuscavage is entering her 5th season of coaching for BAVA.  She played at Knoch High School, Academy of the New Church, and Dickinson College.  She is currently the head coach at Arundel High School.  In her six years coaching at Arundel, Coach Yuscavage has been Baltimore Sun's Anne Arundel County Coach of the Year (2008), Annapolis Capital's Anne Arundel County Coach of the Year (2010, 2012), and has led her team to Anne Arundel County Championships (2011, 2012), District V Championships (2011), Regional Championships (2010, 2011, 2012), and state finals (2011, 2012).  Coach Yuscavage has coached BAVA 15's and 16's and is IMPACT certified.

Coach Chalk enters her 5th year coaching with BAVA.  She attended Severna Park High School, playing volleyball for four years.  She currently attends Goucher College and plays on their team.  In 2011, she was named to the All-Landmark Volleyball Conference Team.  Coach Chalk has coached BAVA 12's and is IMPACT certified.

Coach Gary is entering his second season with BAVA.  During his first season, he assisted the 13 Thunder team with Lauren Boyd as head coach. He has coached in the Fall Volleyball League in the last two seasons.  Coach Gary has coached a wide variety of sports and age groups in recreational and completive club settings, including the Maryland Volleyball Program at the University of Maryland.  Coach Leventry is a retired NASA aerospace engineer and enjoys following volleyball on all levels.  He is IMPACT certified.

Coach Libby is beginning her second season with BAVA.  During her first season, she assisted the 13 Thunder team with Lauren Boyd as head coach.  Coach Libby has coached in the Fall Volleyball League in the last two seasons.  She is a retired physical educator and is a consultant with the Anne Arundel County school system.  Coach Libby has worked with children and parents to enjoy the game of volleyball in a number of settings including recreation leagues, intramural, and club groups.  She is IMPACT certified.

Coach Daelemans is entering her 2nd season coaching with BAVA.  She played for Southern High School 2003-2006, earning All Anne Arundel County honorable mention in 2005.  She played for BAVA 2005-2006 and Team Force 2006-2007.  Traci continued her volleyball career at Washington College 2007-2010, studying elementary education.  She was also a volunteer assistant at Southern High School in 2011.  Coach Daelemans has coached BAVA 14's and is IMPACT certified.

Coach Kallis is entering her 2nd year of coaching for BAVA. She started her volleyball career at Severna Park High School playing on varsity all four years and making first team all county twice during high school. Kallis played for BAVA for three years during high school.  She went on to play volleyball at St. Mary's College of Maryland finishing the season 21st in the US for Division 3 blocking. She ended up transferring after her first year and is currently a sophomore at Goucher College. She finished the 2011 season 10th in the US for Division 3 blocking, making several all tournament teams, and 2nd Team All-Landmark Conference.

Coach Matousek enters her 2nd year coaching with BAVA.  She played at Annapolis Area Christian School, where she was on varsity for three years.  She is a BAVA alum, having played with the club from 2000-2002.  She attended played at Frostburg State University.  Coach Matousek has coaches at St. Mary's High School and is currently the JV Coach at South River High School where her team has been undefeated in the county for two years.  She is currently a Regional Manager for Bayside Physical Therapy.  Coach Matousek has coached BAVA 15's and is IMPACT certified.

Katie Howell
Coach Howell has coached with BAVA for 5 years.  She started her playing career at Northern High School.  During her four years, they won 2 Maryland State Titles and was names All-Metro Player of the Year in 1999.  Coach Howell also played USAV for Southern Maryland Juniors for 7 years.  She continued her playing career at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, PA, was a four year letter winner, received several Rookie of the Week accolades, four Conference Championships, and four NCAA appearances.  Coach Howell has coached BAVA 16's and 17's and is IMPACT certified.

Coach O'Brien is entering her 4th year coaching for BAVA.  She played for Severna Park High School from 2000-2004, earning All-County honors.  She played at Washington College from 2004-2008, was named All-Conference for two years, MVP three years, received the Thomas Spedden Medal her junior year, and received the Senior Athlete Award.  Coach O'Brien was the assistant JV coach at Severna Park High School for 3 years (2008-2010).  She has coached BAVA 13's and 15's and is IMPACT certified.

Coach Bridges enters her 2nd year coaching with BAVA.  She is from South Carolina where she attended Pickens High School from 2001-2005, her team winning the State Championship in 2001, 2002, and 2004.  Coach Bridges was the 3A State Player of the Year in 2005 as well as being on the All-Star team.  She went on to play at Clemson Univeristy from 2005-2008, winning the ACC Title in 2007.  Coach Bridges has coached with Foothills Volleyball Club in South Carolina from 2006-2008.  Coach Bridges is IMPACT certified.

Coach Erik is entering his 2nd year with BAVA.  He started playing volleyball in 1987, lettered in volleyball in 1988 and 1989 at Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, MD.  Erik played 4 years of Club Volleyball at Virginia Tech.  His coaching career began in 1993 when he started coaching juniors with Capital Volleyball Club.  He coached for 6 years with Capital at the 18 and under level.  He coached for Columbia Volleyball Club at the 18 and under level for 2 years in 1999 and 2000.  He has coached for the BAVA Fall League in 2010 and 2011.  Coach Erik has played 10 years USAV Adult Volleyball and 10 years of Doubles Volleyball up to the Open level.  He is IMPACT certified.

Coach Phillips is entering her 5th year coaching for BAVA.  She played for South River High School between 2002-2007, played for BAVA, and currently attends Coppin State University where she plays volleyball.  She was named 2nd team All-Anne Arundel County her senior year.  Coach Phillips was a volunteer coach at South River High School during the 2007 season.  Coach Phillips has coached BAVA 14's, 15's, and 16's and is IMPACT certified.

Coach Rodenhizer is entering her 6th year of coaching for BAVA.  She is currently the assistant varsity and JV coach at Chesapeake High School in Pasadena, MD.  She played from 199-2003 at Chesapeake High School then for two years at Anne Arundel Community College.  Liz has a passion to photography.  Coach Rodenhizer has coached BAVA 13's, 15's, 17's, and is IMPACT certified.

Bay Area Volleyball Academy is a non-profit Junior Olympic Volleyball club that is dedicated to providing an exceptional developmental and competitive volleyball experience for female players in Anne Arundel County and the surrounding counties. This program is committed to the community and promotes strong relationships between players, coaches, and parents. The Academy aims to challenge athletes to achieve their potential while developing skills needed to compete at a highly competitive level. Through participation and education, the program emphasizes the values of sportsmanship, character, self-discipline, and teamwork.
