Outdoor (Grass/Beach)

Summer is here which means the end of club 6's season and the beginning of outdoor doubles season. During the late spring, summer, and early fall, there are many opportunities to play competitive or leisurely volleyball all over Maryland, Virginia, Deleware, and D.C.

Doubles volleyball can take place on sand or grass courts. There are groups that play pick-up/drop-in style, which mostly are just for fun, and there are tournaments on the weekends which are usually more competitive. Many of these tournaments offer cash or merchandise prizes to the winners of the upper divisions. Due to NCAA regulations, student-atheletes would have to decline cash prizes. (Sorry!)

There are two types of doubles volleyball; men's/women's (same-sex partners), and reverse co-ed. Reverse co-ed is played with one male and one female partner. It is played on a women's height net. Female partners can hit and block on the net. Male partners can only hit behind the 10 foot line and cannot block at all.

There are various organizations offering opportunities to play over the summer, some of them are listed below.  If you have further questions, please contact Dave Verostic, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
